The Park District of Oak Park is pleased to present our Hockey Academy!
Registration
for Winter classes: You may register online for Hockey Programs using Weby, our online registration program.
Due to limited class times and maximum enrollment anticipated, there will be no make-up lessons. In order to get the most out of every skating class the staff at Ridgeland Common asks that you follow a few basic guidelines.
- We recommend that you arrive 15 minutes early to lace up skates properly.
- Make sure that young children are escorted to class by a parent or guardian.
- When preparing for lessons, please consult the program description for your class, as different levels of hockey require different equipment.
- Hockye skates ARE REQUIRED for all levels of Hockey Academy. Good quality hockey skates are available to rent for $2. Double runners are not permitted.
- Encourage children to use the washroom before class. Leaving to use the washroom is distracting to both the instructor and other children.
- During lessons, spectators are not allowed in the players box. All spectators are asked to view classes from the bleachers on the west side of the building.
Class Descriptions
Ridgeland Common’s Hockey Academy follows a hybrid of course guidelines from the Ice Skating Institute (ISI) and our staff. Skills listed below the class level are those that the student will be learning. Staff will evaluate each student at the end of each session to determine if they are ready for the next level.
Refund Policy
Hockey Academy lessons require a one-week notice for a refund. If you cancel a program a week before the class starts, a refund will be issued minus a $3 processing fee. Requests for refunds must be made by phone or in person at Ridgeland Common. The Park District reserves the right to consolidate, postpone, or cancel programs with insufficient enrollment. A full refund will be issued in these situations.
ONE GOAL PROGRAM - Youth Hockey Equipment Available for rental for free!
The Park District of Oak Park and the In-House hockey program have teamed up with the “One Goal Organization” to provide starter sets of equipment for players who are new to the game or are unable to participate due to the high cost of equipment.
This winter we will be offering full sets of equipment (including shoulder pads, pants, helmet, gloves, shin pads, elbow pads, and stick) that can be rented in two different sizes. Small sizes generally fit 4 to 6 year olds and large sizes fir 6 to 8 year olds. A deposit will be required, but as long as equipment is returned in good condition, no fee will be assessed to rent.
LIMIITED AVAILABILITY - First come, first served. For details, please contact Michael Lushniak, Rink Program Supervisor at 708-725-2302 or mikel@oakparkparks.com.
