Pleasant Home is a National Historic Landmark building designed
in 1897 by noted Prairie School architect, George W. Maher
and preserved and operated by the Pleasant Home Foundation.
This historic property is one of the earliest and most distinguished
examples of Prairie architecture in the country and has one
of the best preserved interiors of that design era. The Pleasant
Home Foundation offers this venue for corporate meetings,
luncheons, private parties, wedding ceremonies, and receptions.
The many spacious rooms, layout, and expansive windows that
look out onto the four-acre park make Pleasant Home a truly
wonderful setting for the most intimate meetings or festive
affairs.
The new Oak Park Conservatory features not only three unique
display houses which date back to 1929, but the Elvira Rubinstein
Community Room which is now available for rental. This historic
property is an ideal location for weddings, parties, meetings
and family celebrations with a full-size kitchen and seating
for up to 50 which can be expanded through the grand corridor
for larger groups. Of course, what makes this facility appealing
to guests is the accessibilty of the tropical, desert and
fern show houses which display plant specimens dating back
to 1914.
