A site master plan was developed for Longfellow Park in 2007 and the Park and Center were renovated from August 2008 through May 2009. A grand re-opening celebration for the park and center took place on May 30, 2009.
Preschool Sports programs and league sports are extremely popular
at the Longfellow Center as well as the White Sox Training Center,
a special summer program for kids ages 7 to 14. Numerous Karate classes for all ages are also held at this facility.
Besides the new playground areas and splash pad, Longfellow Park
features the only full court basketball area in the district
and also provides lighted tennis courts.
If you are looking for a location for a family celebration,
Longfellow Center is available for rental in the daytime, evening
and weekends. (Facility Rental Information)
