Jamie Lapke, Gymnastics Program Manager

Jamie began gymnastics at the age of 4 and competed for the Chicago Park District’s recreational program from the ages of 8 to 15. In 1991 she graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a degree in secondary physical education. While doing her student teaching, Jamie took a job with the Chicago Park District at Merrimac Park, where she worked full time until 1994. At Merrimac, a large part of her work involved teaching tumbling and gymnastics, and she developed a top ranking competitive team for the park.

Jamie has always loved gymnastics and after college began working out at Avondale Park, where she was a top performer for the Level 5 competitive team. Subsequently, Jamie competed in the USAG program through Level 9 and retired after competing at Level 9 Regional Championships.

Jamie joined the gymnastics staff of the Park District of Oak Park in September, 1994. She runs the OPGC preschool program, and coaches a number of the girls classes as well as the GIJO Competitive team. Jamie is USAG Safety Certified, CPR and First Aid certified, is a USAG Professional member, and is certified as a PDP Level 1 coach and a KAT (preschool) instructor.
