Dog Park and Dog Park Plus
 
 

The Park District of Oak Park’s Dog Parks offer Oak Park dog owners the opportunity to bring their dogs to an open space and allow them to exercise off-leash, provided a permit is purchased in advance from the Park District of Oak Park. The permits, obtainable only by Oak Park residents, are available for purchase IN-PERSON ONLY at Ridgeland Common, located at 415 W. Lake Street in Oak Park between 9am-5pm Monday through Friday and from 11am-4pm on Saturdays or at the Adminstrative Center, 218 Madison, Monday through Friday 8:30am-5pm.

Maple Park Dog Park - Now Open!
The Maple Park Dog Park is a dedicated dog off-leash area located in the northwest corner of Maple Park, in an area that covers approximately 12,000 square feet. This Dog Park features a crushed granite surface, benches, an electronic entry system and a water spigot just for the canines! Open from sunrise to sunset.

Ridgeland Common Dog Park
The Dog Park is a dedicated dog off-leash area located in the southeast corner of Ridgeland Common Park, in an area that covers approximately 8,700 square feet. Open from sunrise to 10pm.

Dog Park Plus
The Dog Park Plus is the fenced-in area of Ridgeland Common that also encompasses the two ballfields and the sled and ski hill. This area is a non-simultaneous mixed-use fenced dog park and is open select hours only. From October 31 through March 31, the Dog Park Plus will be open Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays from 7:00 am until 9:00 am. From April 1 through October 24, the Dog Park Plus will be open Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays from 6:00 am until 8:00 am. These hours are subject to change.

2011-2012 Permits
Valid through July 31, 2012
Dog park permits are available for purchase or renewal for $42 and is good through July 31, 2012. The fee for each additional dog is $5,
with a limit of three dogs per household (in keeping with Village restrictions on dog ownership). In an effort to recycle while keeping costs down the Park District is initiating a $10 refundable access card deposit for all new pass holders.

How To Obtain A Permit
Permits are available for purchase by Oak Park residents only and must be purchased IN-PERSON ONLY at Ridgeland Common, located at 415 W. Lake Street in Oak Park, between 9am-5pm Monday through Friday and from 11am-4pm on Saturdays or at the Adminstrative Center, 218 Madison, Monday through Friday 8:30am-5pm.

Requirements for Permit
Owners must provide a valid village dog license receipt, including the license number, and proof of current vaccinations for rabies, distemper, kennel cough/bordetella, para-influenza and parvovirus, as well as proof of a fecal test for internal parasites.

Please Note
A new card reader system is in place. All permit holders are required to bring their pass to gain access to the Dog Park. Periodic monitoring and surveillance of the Dog Park/ Dog Park Plus will be conducted by the Village of Oak Park Animal Control Officer and the Village of Oak Park Police. Dog owners not complying with posted Dog Park/Dog Park Plus rules will be subject to fines of up to $1,000.

Dogs in Our Parks
For the safety of our patrons, dogs are not allowed in the Park District playgrounds but are allowed in our parks as long as they are on a leash which is no longer than 8 feet at all times.
