Also available at Ridgeland Common Pool is an aquatic lift for persons with disabilities for easy pool entry and exit. Ridgeland Common Pool is ADA accessible.

Opening and Closing Policies for Ridgeland Common Pool

Extreme Weather
The pool may close during a swim session due to extreme weather, i.e.., lightning, thunder, hail, or tornado watches or warnings. When the pool closes due to any of these factors, it will remain closed for the entire session.

Cool Temperatures
If the air temperature is 68 degrees at the beginning of an evening session, only one of the Oak Park pools will open. Ridgeland Common will open on Tuesday and Thursday. Rehm Pool will open on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If the air temperature drops below 68 degrees, the pool will close.

If the air temperature is 68 degrees at the beginning of a day session or falls to this temperature during the session, management reserves the right to close the pool(s) depending on all weather conditions.

Basic Pool Rules
(Detailed rules are posted at the pools)

  • Showers are required before entering the pool.
  • Non potty-trained children must wear swim diapers, plastic pants, and swimsuit in the water.
  • Understand that lifeguards are on duty to enforce rules and respond to emergencies, not to supervise children. Parents are responsible for supervising their children.
  • Recreational floatation devices (i.e. water wings, rings, kickboards, rafts, and inflatable animals) are allowed in the main pool during Family Swim hours only. Flotation devices are limited to 3” x 5” x 2’. Small toys and floats are allowed in the Wading Pool at all times.
  • Lined swimsuits are required. Clothing such as cutoffs, workout clothing, leotards, etc. are not allowed in the pools.
  • As of January 1, 2003, the Park District of Oak Park has instituted a non-smoking policy in all parks and facilities. This policy will also apply to the sundecks at the pools.
