Bobbie Nance
Receives Young Professional Award

Bobbi Nance, Teen and Adventure Supervisor for the Park
District of Oak Park, was recently presented with the
Illinois Park and Recreation Association’s Recreation
Section Young Professional of the Year Award. This award
recognizes an individual who has the talent and drive
to be tomorrow’s leader in the parks and recreation
field and must have made a positive impact at his/her
agency and in the field. Since joining the Park District
staff in July 2005 Nance has developed several successful
outdoor adventure programs and teen programs and events.
With great enthusiasm, she is currently preparing for
the opening of the Forty-Nine Lake Teen Center. This
project has been over a year in the making and will
provide low-cost recreational opportunities to Oak
Park teens in middle and high school.
Another significant career achievement for Nance took
place in early January when she was recognized as a Certified
Parks and Recreation Professional. In order to achieve
this designation Nance earned her bachelors degree in Parks
and Recreation from the University of Illinois Champaign/Urbana
, has worked in the field for over 2 years and successfully
passed the National Certification Exam.
