Cheney Mansion

This elegant and spacious property was designed in 1913 by Charles E. White, Jr., a student of Frank Lloyd Wright. This 12,000 square-foot mansion boasts many handsome reception rooms, six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and separate servants’ quarters. The two acres of beautifully-landscaped grounds also include a coach house and greenhouse. Located in the Historic District of Oak Park, the mansion is available for your most special occasions including weddings, showers, memorial services, corporate events and much more. Pleasant Home is a National Historic Landmark building designed in 1897 by noted Prairie School architect, George W. Maher and preserved and operated by the Pleasant Home Foundation. This historic property is one of the earliest and most distinguished examples of Prairie architecture in the country and has one of the best preserved interiors of that design era. The Pleasant Home Foundation offers this venue for corporate meetings, luncheons, private parties, wedding ceremonies, and receptions. The many spacious rooms, layout, and expansive windows that look out onto the four-acre park make Pleasant Home a truly wonderful setting for the most intimate meetings or festive affairs.

The new Oak Park Conservatory features not only three unique display houses which date back to 1929, but the Elvira Rubinstein Community Room which is now available for rental. This historic property is an ideal location for weddings, parties, meetings and family celebrations with a full-size kitchen and seating for up to 50 which can be expanded through the grand corridor for larger groups. Of course, what makes this facility appealing to guests is the accessibilty of the tropical, desert and fern show houses which display plant specimens dating back to 1914. Community Centers


The Park District of Oak Park operates seven community centers throughout the village which are perfect locations for special gatherings of families and friends including birthdays, anniversaries and family reunions. These very popular facilities are available on a first come, first served basis. Rental requests for the community centers must be made a minimum of 3 weeks prior to the rental date.
