On October 14, 2007, The Park District of Oak Park welcomed the community to Cheney Mansion's re-opening celebration. Following the Infant Welfare Society's "Designer Showcase House", the Mansion once again opened for classes, programs and special event rentals. The free community open house offered an afternoon of live music, lawn games, garden talks, scavenger hunt, cooking demonstrations, light refreshments and lots of fun.
