Shaping the Future of Oak Park Parks
Lindberg Park Site Plan
In fall 2010, the Park District hired Wolff Landscape Architecture to develop a site master plan for Lindberg Park. The intent of the site master plan is to design a blueprint for future park improvements which will be funded through the Park District’s Capital Improvement Plan.
Lindberg Park, named after the first Superintendent of Parks, Gustav A. Lindberg, is the Park District’s largest park encompassing 13.9 acres of open space. In 1972, the Oak Park River Forest Community Foundation established the Presidential Walk in Lindberg Park planting a tree for each former Village of Oak Park President. This tradition continues today. Other park features include a comfort station with restrooms, a playground area, two irrigated sports fields, two multi-purpose fields, three tennis courts and a native prairie plant garden.
