Shaping the Future of Oak Park Parks
Facility Improvement Study
for 218 Madison
At the June 22, 2006 Park Board Meeting, Williams Architects
was selected to conduct a Facility Improvement Study for 218
Madison including Space Programs for Gymnastics, Buildings
and Grounds Operations, and Administrative Services which
are all located at this address. The Facility Improvement
Study focused on improvements to the existing facilities on
a short term (1 to 3 years) basis with an emphasis on the
Gymnastics Center. Factors considered included public and
staff access, storage, staff work stations, staging and common
areas. The long term Space Program evaluated the functions
now housed at 218 Madison and determined specific space needs
for each of these functions. This information was used
for decision-making purposes as expansion or new facility
opportunities arose.
Project work began in mid-July and the entire project was
completed in mid-October. See the tentative project schedule
below for more details.
